Working In Hell
The Economist Magazine’s online magazine “More Intelligent Life” has a gripping slide presentation titled “Breaking Ships: Where Ships Go to Die” showing the hellish working conditions Bangladeshi workers are forced to accept. Low pay, dangerous working conditions and life altering injuries are just part of the regular experiences these people endure to make a “living”.
I can’t imagine working conditions being much worse than this. Breathing in asbestos laden ships, lack of safety gear, lethal accidents on a regular basis. The list goes on and on. It is certainly the dark side of western economic progress…
